Whitehouse's early days date back to the 1840s when families began settling the area. In 1854, colonists petitioned to name the settlement Whitehouse after a large white house used as a trading post. During the Texas Revolution, Whitehouse was a campground of the Texas Calvary. In 1927, Whitehouse was officially made an incorporated town and it incorporated again in 1964.
