Gladewater, TX is a cozy town located in east Texas, about 130 miles east of Dallas in the counties of Upshur, Gregg and Smith. With a population of about 6500, Gladewater is the home of lake Gladewater and the East Texas State Fair.

The city was founded in 1873 when the railroad system was built from Longview to Big Sandy. The town was also a major stop for cattle drovers who would travel between Louisiana and the Texas Pan Handle.

Gladewater is most well-known for being the Antique Capital of East Texas. There are close to two dozen antique stores that line the streets of downtown, ranging from vintage tractor parts to furniture and clothing. Along with antiques, the town also hosts a Farmer’s Market every Thursday.

The highlight of the year is the East Texas State Fair, a long standing event that brings in thousands of visitors each year. The fair features numerous events like a rodeo, livestock judging and snake shows. In addition to the fun, there are plenty of delicious foods to try such as funnel cakes, corn dogs and homemade fried pies. There is also a large selection of vendors selling art, vintage wares and handmade crafts.
