Canton is one of the “Five major industrial centers” of East Texas, along with Lindale, Longview, Tyler and Marshall. The City is known as the “Home of First Monday Trade Days”, a flea and Farmers market that has been an East Texas Tradition since 1850, and the “Ben E. Keith Corporate Headquarters” and Distribution Center.
One of the City’s main attractions is the First Monday Trade Days, located off Highway 64, west of Canton. This large market occurs the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday before the start of each month and covers a total of 600 acres. The market attracts over 100,000 people each month for shopping, vendors, live entertainment and food. Canton also has a variety of unique shops and restaurants. Just off the downtown square are many unique shopping opportunities.
The City of Canton is home to several parks and recreation facilities. These include Fountain Creek Park which has a number of trails, basketball and tennis courts, and soccer fields.
