History

The area around present day Lindale was first settled by cotton farmers in the mid-1800s. In 1873, the settlers came together to form a small community, and the city was named "Cotton Gin" in 1874. The name was changed to Lindale in 1876, named after the Lindley family, who had established a large farm there in the 19th century. Lindale's economy thrived in the early 20th century, thanks to cotton and peaches. Lindale was officially incorporated in 1951.
