Mabank, Texas is a small town located in the north east corner of the state, between Dallas and Tyler. It is situated along the south banks of Cedar Creek Lake in Henderson County and is part of the Tyler-Jacksonville metropolitan statistical area. The town has a population of around 4,300 as of the 2020 census.

Originally known as Cedar Creek, the area was initially settled in the 1850s by an English colonist named William G. Bonner. Bonner was followed by other settlers hoping to make their fortune in the logging business. Eventually the booming logging industry attracted a store, a sawmill and other businesses that helped grow the town.

Mabank was officially incorporated in 1895 with its original 100 acres of land, becoming the first incorporated city in Henderson County. The name was changed to Mabank in 1903 to honor U.S. Representative David T. Mabank, who served in Congress from 1883 to 1895.

In the 1920s, Mabank began to be known as an agricultural and trading center, thanks to its proximity to the newly constructed Highway 175 and U.S. Highway 80. It also benefited from the oil boom of the 1930s, as well as the establishment of nearby Cedar Creek Lake in the 1950s.

Today, Mabank remains an agricultural center, producing hay, horses and row crops. It is also home to numerous antique stores, furniture stores, and various other retail businesses. There are also several churches and schools in the area, including a branch of Trinity Valley Community College. Visitors enjoy the numerous recreational opportunities on and around Cedar Creek Lake, as well as nearby state parks, such as Caddo Lake State Park and Tyler State Park.
